Thawing out

I really shouldn't keep moaning on about the weather, but really, the last couple of weeks have been dominated by the snow. Today, there is still snow, but thankfully it is thawing, slowly, and it looks as though life may return to normal quite soon. Which is good. I have not been to work for for over a week, and while I am attempting to work from home, it is only happening up to a point. Working from home is fine if I have all the information I need at home with me, but after a few days, I need to visit the office, and that of course I have been able to do. I did intend to go in yesterday, but as I was getting ready to leave, heard that the trains had delays of over an hour. And there was more snow. So I didn't go. Today, I could have gone in, but having only yesterday cancelled the meetings I had scheduled for today, and then hearing that there were still problems with the trains, I decided not to risk it. I am on leave tomorrow, so I guess I will just have to hope to be back to normal next week. I am trying not to think about how behind I am with everything, because it just makes me anxious. Fingers crossed it doesn't snow again please!
I don't like this time of year. Apparently next monday is officially the most depressing day of the year, and the day on which there are most suicides. I can believe it.
It would be nice to think that 2010 could be a good year. In reality, I suspect it will be pretty much like last year, with good bits and bad bits. Probably that is just how life is now. Most of the time I am not unhappy,a and really, that is something to appreciate.

  2. Oh, you are definitely allowed to whinge about the weather as long as you want, since this winter has been so unusual and brutal in Britain. So maybe you people can send a little of your snow to the Vancouver area now? It seems that it's been such a mild and rainy winter for us so far that one of our Winter Olympic venues (Cypress Mountain, just outside of the city of Vancouver) is in danger of not having enough snow for the events scheduled there!
